FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS CHRISTIAN COUNSELING?

Christian Counseling is a form of faith-based guidance that integrates biblical truth with practical strategies for emotional, mental, and spiritual healing. Unlike secular therapy, Christian counseling recognizes that true transformation begins with renewing the mind through the Word of God (Romans 12:2).

This type of counseling focuses on helping individuals:

  • Understand the root causes of emotional, relational, or spiritual struggles

  • Apply biblical principles to daily life and decision-making

  • Experience deliverance, restoration, and lasting peace through Christ

  • Strengthen their relationship with God while developing emotional maturity and spiritual discernment

Christian counseling is not just about “feeling better” — it’s about becoming whole. Whether you’re a believer seeking guidance, a ministry leader within the five-fold, or someone navigating life’s challenges, Christian counseling provides a safe, Spirit-led space to heal, grow, and walk in divine purpose.

WHO SHOULD SEEK COUNSELING?

Biblical counseling is for anyone who desires healing, growth, and alignment with God’s Word.
Whether you’re walking through emotional pain, spiritual confusion, or leadership fatigue, biblical counseling helps you reconnect to the voice of God and rediscover strength through Scripture.

You should seek biblical counseling if you are:

  • A believer in Christ seeking clarity, direction, or inner peace.

  • A pastor, prophet, teacher, evangelist, or apostle in the five-fold ministry needing confidential guidance, restoration, or accountability.

  • Someone struggling with emotional burdens such as anxiety, rejection, grief, fear, or burnout.

  • A leader or servant in ministry trying to balance calling and personal life.

  • A person desiring deliverance, healing, and spiritual maturity in your walk with Christ.

  • An individual who wants to build emotional resilience through biblical wisdom and Spirit-led principles.

Biblical counseling isn’t just for moments of crisis — it’s for anyone who wants to live whole, free, and spiritually aligned.

At Stepping Stone Christian Counseling, our goal is to help you see yourself through God’s eyes, overcome cycles that limit your growth, and equip you to walk in emotional stability and divine purpose.

Each session is designed to renew the mind, restore the heart, and realign the spirit — helping clients live out God’s divine purpose with clarity, confidence, and peace.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIBLICAL COUNSELING AND MENTORSHIP?

While both offer spiritual support and guidance, they serve different purposes in your growth journey.

Biblical Counseling focuses on healing, restoration, and personal renewal.
It addresses the emotional, spiritual, and relational areas of life that may be causing pain, confusion, or imbalance. Through prayer, Scripture, and Spirit-led conversation, counseling helps you uncover root issues, find clarity, and walk in freedom.

Counseling ministers to the person behind the assignment.

Mentorship, on the other hand, focuses on development, accountability, and direction.
It is for individuals—especially ministry leaders within the five-fold—who are seeking wisdom, structure, and spiritual strategy for their calling or leadership role. Mentorship helps you refine your gift, stay accountable, and operate in excellence and alignment with God’s order.

Mentorship equips the leader within the assignment.

At Stepping Stone Christian Counseling, some clients receive both—counseling for healing and mentorship for growth—as the Holy Spirit leads.

Your journey toward clarity, healing, and spiritual alignment begins with one conversation.

HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION AND HOW OFTEN
ARE THEY SCHEDULED?

Each Biblical Counseling session typically lasts between 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the depth of the topic and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Most clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions, allowing time to reflect, apply biblical principles, and track growth between meetings. However, frequency can be adjusted based on individual needs, spiritual maturity, and availability.

Mentorship sessions for ministry leaders may follow a different rhythm — often monthly or seasonally — depending on the goals set during the initial consultation.

All sessions are by appointment only and can be conducted in person or virtually for convenience and accessibility.

“Consistency creates transformation — healing requires both commitment and application.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

IS STEPPING STONE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AFFILIATED WITH A DENOMINATION?

No.
Stepping Stone Christian Counseling operates under an apostolic and Kingdom mandate, not a denominational structure.

We are not bound by denomination — we are bound by the Word of God. Our foundation is built on the authority of Jesus Christ, the leading of the Holy Spirit, and the unchanging truth of Scripture.

Our focus is on equipping, restoring, and aligning believers through biblical principles and the power of the Holy Spirit. We honor the Body of Christ in its many expressions, but we remain committed to operating under apostolic order, biblical integrity, and spiritual discernment — not religious tradition.

“We don’t represent a denomination — we represent the Kingdom.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

IS STEPPING STONE CHRISTIAN COUNSELING
A CHURCH?

No.
Stepping Stone Christian Counseling is not a church — it is a biblically based, apostolic counseling and equipping ministry designed to bring healing, deliverance, and alignment to the Body of Christ.

While we operate under apostolic authority and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our purpose is not to replace the local church, but to strengthen it by restoring and empowering the people within it.

Our mission is to:

  • Provide biblical counseling and mentorship to believers, leaders, and five-fold ministers.

  • Equip individuals to walk in spiritual maturity, emotional wholeness, and Kingdom order.

  • Partner with the local church by helping its members heal, grow, and function more effectively in their God-given callings.

  • Offer a safe and Spirit-led environment for restoration and accountability outside of traditional church settings.

We believe the local church is vital — but we also recognize that some healing, deliverance, and equipping work happens in apostolic environments where deep transformation can take place before returning to corporate fellowship.

“The church gathers. The apostolic equips. Both are essential for Kingdom order.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

CAN SOMEONE RECEIVE DELIVERANCE
THROUGH APOSTOLIC COUNSELING
?

Yes.
Deliverance is often a natural result of biblical counseling and apostolic alignment — but not in the sensationalized way that many people have come to expect.

At Stepping Stone Christian Counseling, deliverance happens through truth, revelation, repentance, and application of the Word of God. When a person receives biblical understanding, renounces false agreements, and submits their will to Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit brings freedom.

Deliverance is not an event — it’s a process of transformation.
True deliverance begins with understanding, continues through obedience, and is maintained through discipleship and accountability.

During apostolic counseling sessions, deliverance may take place as:

  • Strongholds are identified and broken through the Word of God.

  • Inner healing occurs through repentance, forgiveness, and renewal of the mind.

  • The individual learns to apply spiritual disciplines to maintain their freedom.

  • The Holy Spirit exposes and uproots areas of bondage through discernment and revelation.

We don’t chase manifestations — we pursue transformation.
Our goal is not just to cast something out, but to fill the person with truth, ensuring they can sustain their deliverance and walk in wholeness.

“Deliverance is not a moment of escape — it’s a lifetime of maintenance through truth.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

IF DELIVERANCE IS THE CHILDREN'S BREAD,
WHY IS THERE A COST FOR COUNSELING OR DELIVERANCE?

Deliverance is indeed the children’s bread — it is a gift freely given through the finished work of Jesus Christ. (Mark 7:27)
However, the facilitation of deliverance, the teaching, and the continued equipping that helps believers maintain that freedom all require time, labor, wisdom, and stewardship.

At Stepping Stone Christian Counseling, you’re not paying for deliverance — you’re honoring the time, preparation, and anointing of the vessel God is using to minister to you. The freedom itself is free; the process and mentorship that sustain it come with a cost of investment.

Scripture teaches that it’s right to honor those who labor in the Word:

“Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” — 1 Timothy 5:17

What you’re investing in is not deliverance — it’s discipleship, accountability, and transformation.
The cost represents your commitment to the process, your value for the Word being poured into you, and your responsibility to steward your own freedom.

Just as a doctor’s care requires time, study, and preparation — so does spiritual care.
Deliverance may be the children’s bread, but learning how to eat, digest, and sustain what you’ve been given requires teaching, structure, and stewardship.

“You’re not paying for the miracle — you’re investing in the maturity to maintain it.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

DOES COUNSELING OR MENTORSHIP
FROM DR. ASIA JOHNSON MEAN
THAT SHE IS MY SPIRITUAL COVERING?

No. Receiving mentorship, counseling, or advice through Stepping Stone Christian Counseling does not establish spiritual covering.

These sessions are designed to provide guidance, wisdom, and support not pastoral oversight or covenant leadership.

Spiritual covering is a separate commitment that involves accountability, prayer covering, and covenant relationship established through discernment and mutual agreement.

While I’m honored to pour into your journey, it’s important to understand the difference between receiving guidance and being spiritually covered.

You can receive counsel without entering covenant.

HOW ARE COUNSELING SESSIONS
CONDUCTESD?

All Biblical Counseling sessions with Apostle Dr. Asia D. Johnson are conducted virtually through Zoom or a similar video platform (such as FaceTime).

After your session is scheduled, you will receive a secure video link via email prior to your appointment. This allows you time to download the necessary app or prepare your device for a smooth and uninterrupted session.

Please note: Sessions are not conducted by phone. Because Biblical Counseling deals with spiritual and emotional matters, it is vital for Apostle Asia to see your face and discern through the Holy Spirit as she ministers, counsels, and prays with you.

Video sessions create a sacred and connected environment, allowing for full engagement, discernment, and Spirit-led guidance — no matter where you are in the world.

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE
ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD

At Stepping Stone Christian Counseling, we stand firmly on the uncompromising truth of God’s Word as the final authority for faith, life, and transformation.
Our approach to counseling and mentorship is rooted in the conviction that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and living Word of God — relevant for every generation and sufficient for every situation.

We believe:

  • The Word of God is the ultimate source of truth, instruction, and correction. (2 Timothy 3:16–17)

  • The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit operate in perfect unity to bring revelation, conviction, and healing. (John 14:26)

  • Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, restoration, and eternal life. (John 14:6)

  • True transformation happens when the Word renews the mind and aligns the heart with God’s will. (Romans 12:2)

  • Prayer, repentance, and obedience are vital to maintaining deliverance and walking in spiritual freedom.

  • The Holy Spirit is active today — guiding, comforting, and empowering believers to walk in truth and victory. (John 16:13)

Our sessions are guided by Scripture, prayer, and the Holy Spirit — not by worldly philosophies or secular counseling models.
We believe that when the Word of God is applied, lives are healed, minds are renewed, and destinies are restored.

“The Word of God is not just read — it reads you, reveals you, and restores you.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT STEPPING STONE OPERATES UNDER AN APOSTOLIC MANADATE?

To say that Stepping Stone Christian Counseling operates under an apostolic mandate means that we function under the authority, order, and governance of the Kingdom of God — not religion, tradition, or man-made systems.

An apostolic mandate is a divine commissioning. It carries the weight of assignment, alignment, and accountability.
Our work is not just about counseling — it’s about equipping, correcting, empowering, and building up the Body of Christ to function in maturity and integrity.

We operate apostolically by:

  • Teaching and counseling through divine revelation and biblical truth, not opinion or philosophy.

  • Equipping leaders and believers to walk in spiritual order, character, and discipline.

  • Restoring those who have been wounded, discouraged, or misaligned in ministry.

  • Discerning the times and helping individuals understand their Kingdom identity and assignment.

  • Training the next generation of leaders to build on Christ as the Chief Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20).

This apostolic mandate ensures that everything done through Stepping Stone — from counseling to mentorship — flows from heavenly order, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and in alignment with the Word of God.

“Apostolic work is not about building platforms — it’s about building people.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

WHAT MAKES APOSTOLIC COUNSELING
DIFFERENT FROM TRADITIONAL OR SECULAR COUNSELING?

Apostolic Counseling is not just about managing emotions or improving behaviors — it’s about transformation through revelation.
Where traditional counseling often focuses on the mind, apostolic counseling ministers to the spirit, soul, and body under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the authority of Scripture.

At Stepping Stone Christian Counseling, every session is Spirit-led, biblically grounded, and prophetically discerning. We deal with root causes — not just symptoms — bringing clarity, healing, and restoration through the Word of God.

Here’s what sets Apostolic Counseling apart:

  • Foundation:
Rooted in the Word of God, not psychology or human reasoning.
(Hebrews 4:12 — “For the word of God is quick, and powerful… discerning the thoughts and intents of the heart.”)

  • Authority:
Guided by the Holy Spirit and apostolic discernment, not diagnostic labels or secular frameworks.

  • Goal:
Focused on deliverance, maturity, and spiritual alignment, not just coping mechanisms.

  • Process:
Uses Scripture, prayer, repentance, and accountability to produce lasting transformation and renewed identity in Christ.

  • Purpose:
To equip and restore believers, especially those in leadership, so they can function in full spiritual authority and emotional stability.

This approach goes beyond therapy — it is a Kingdom mandate that brings healing to the heart, correction to the mind, and alignment to the spirit.

“Therapy helps you understand yourself. Apostolic counseling helps you become who God intended you to be.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson

HOW IS DELIVERANCE
MAINTAINED AFTER COUNSELING
?

Deliverance is not maintained through emotion — it’s maintained through devotion.
Lasting freedom requires consistent alignment with the Word of God, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and a lifestyle of discipline, prayer, and obedience.

At Stepping Stone Christian Counseling, we teach that deliverance is only the beginning — maintenance is the maturity.
Once freedom has been established, it must be guarded and sustained through daily spiritual habits and conscious choices.

Here’s how deliverance is maintained:

  • Stay rooted in the Word:
Continue studying Scripture daily. The Word renews your mind and closes doors that the enemy once used to gain access. (Romans 12:2)

  • Remain prayerful:
Prayer keeps your spirit sensitive to God’s voice and strengthens your discernment. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

  • Walk in obedience:
Freedom is sustained through submission. When you obey what God reveals, you protect your deliverance. (James 1:22)

  • Keep accountability:
Surround yourself with trusted, Spirit-filled mentors or leaders who can help you stay on track and identify blind spots. (Proverbs 27:17)

  • Guard your gates:
Be mindful of what you watch, listen to, and entertain. The enemy often re-enters through unguarded emotions or distractions.

  • Apply what you’ve learned:
Deliverance is sustained when you practice the truth you’ve received. The key to keeping freedom is walking it out daily.

Once you’ve received the tools and teachings for maintenance during your counseling sessions, and you’re ready to go deeper in spiritual discipline and leadership development, you may be invited to join the Stepping Stone Mentorship Program.
This next level is designed to help you apply, lead, and live out what you’ve learned more effectively.
Please note: mentorship is a separate program and involves its own commitment and cost.

At Stepping Stone, our goal is not just to help you experience breakthrough — but to equip you to sustain it.
True deliverance produces discipline, discernment, and devotion.

“Freedom is not kept by feelings — it’s kept by faithfulness.” — Dr. Asia D. Johnson
